AdDU, Crocs A top youth footy fest

THE Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Knights, and Crocs A lorded over their respective rivals to clinch titles in the 10-under and 8-under categories at the start of the Sun.Star Davao-supported Kadayawan Football Festival for Youth at the Davao City National High School field, Saturday.

AdDU Knights stamped Hyenas Yellow in their championship showdown to clinch the 10-under title. Hyenas placed second as Crocs A and Ateneo Blue occupied the third and fourth spots, respectively.

Lance Antepuesto, for his part, was hailed as the most valuable player (MVP) awardee while Vic Cabatbat as the best goal keeper.

 

In the 8-under division, Crocs A captured the title by besting Hyenas Yellow, Hyenas Blue, and Crocs B who wounded up in the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.

Kian Terence Niu and Bien Wade Arrieta were the most valuable player and best goalkeeper awardees, respectively.

Hyenas FC, meanwhile, defeated Philippine Women's College (PWC) for the 6-under division title. PWC placed second followed by Southpoint School (SPS) and New Kids for the third and fourth ranks.

Maharlika Sports Development Institute, Inc. (MSDII) executive director Edgar Te, in an interview with Sun.Star Davao at the sidelines of the football festival, said the event was organized to provide an avenue for grassroots players to play the sport of football.

"It's a way for them to be more exposed and oriented with the sport of football," Te added.

Winners received medals and trophies in the event sponsored by the City Government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO), Hyenas Football Club and MSDII.

Other championship games were still being played as of presstime.
